“Last month the ZXZW Festival in Tilburg, Holland sent me an invitation to attend this year’s event to witness the Embassy of the Living Sun Ra, a week-long residency by the 15-piece Sun Ra Arkestra under the direction of Marshall Allen. I was able to attend the last four nights of musical delights and at the Saturday night concert at the Paradox Club I stuck out my little digital recorder and captured most of the second set. On Sunday the Arkestra concluded its week with a free concert in the park downtown, and this episode starts with the closing number from that concert, “We Travel the Spaceways.” Before leaving Tilburg I got my host, Ries Doms, a ZXZW board member, to take a break and explain how this festival and the Embassy of the Living Sun Ra came to be.” Read and listen more here.
