Nitsch for beginners: ‘Ketchup’ by Martynka Wawrzyniak

In September Hermann Nitsch is coming to Incubate in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Most of you know that already, but are not sure if, especially the Aktion itself, that is something for you.

Maybe Nitsch is not (yet) your cup of tea, but are interested in art that exists in the vicinity of boundaries. ‘Ketchup’ by Martynka Wawrzyniak might be your step towards a big thing like Nitsch. In this work she gave children water guns filled with ketchup and let them shoot her with this red stuff against a white background. It’s a bit like a Nitsch Aktion in our eyes. But a bit mpore innocent.
