Who are you?
Alex van der Hulst, freelance journalist, working for OOR, Gonzo (circus), Revu, De Gelderlander and other magazines.

What will you be doing during Incubate 2009 (Sept. 13-20)?
Visiting one or perhaps two days of the festival and try to see many bands I don’t know, instead of other festivals where you see all those bands you already know.

Which three artists do you recommend to see at Incubate 2009?
Schlachthofbronx. Currywurst at the Copacabana isn’t weird. Germans migrated tot Brasil over 100 years ago. A century later baile funk, ghettotech, kuduro, kwaito and Miami bass is migrating back to München to form München Bass. Their debutalbum is the feelgood hit of this summer.

Shackleton. In a recent A-Z of dubstep I read, the S was for … Skull Disco. Not quite Shackleton but close enough. Shackleton posseses a fresh sound in dubstep I’m keen to hear.

Finn.. I interviewed the man in a hallway at Huize Maas at Eurosonic Festival. A really nice guy. And his music makes everyone go quiet.

And also Mad Professor, Hermann Nitsch, Gravenhurst, Jozef van Wissem, Dananananakroyd, TV Buddhas, Knalpot, Tyree Cooper and De Anale Fase are on my to hear list, although I’ll probably miss most of them.

Which artist would you like to see on Incubate 2010?
My homies from Nijmegen Frans de Waard as Kapotte Muziek, Wander and Freiband. Also Pickup, Frans together with Martin Luijten. The Dear Listeners (Martin Luijten & Robert Deters). Bertin. The Chick Machine. Outside of Nijmegen: Machinefabriek, El-P, Beans, Bibio, Dälek, Hrvatski, Matmos, Fennesz, Merzbow, Fushitsusha, Burial, Pinch, DJ Mehdi, Toktek, Mr. Oizo, Drop The Lime, Carsten Nicolai, Zed Bias and please, please try all you can to get The Mingus Big Band to Tilburg.
