This weekend, The Hague will be the epicenter of underground culture. On Friday and Saturday the sixth edition of State X New Forms will take over different stages in and around the Paard van Troje venue in The Hague. It’s a festival giving cutting edge music and art a chance in the limelight and a diverse audience. Just like… well us, really.
Slaraffenland. That sounds just like some land in a Tolkien story. Well, it’s far from that. Slaraffenland is a five piece from Copenhagen, Denmark and makes an alt.country kind of post rock with horns. Think Beirut only more gloomier and less girlie girlie, The Folk Implosion on a free-jazz trip or the younger brother of Efterklang stealing their instruments. For the cover afficianos: they’ve covered Radioheads ‘Paranoid Android’, ‘Take on Me’ of A-ha and Pink Floyds ‘Another Brick in the Wall’.
