Facebook sends Cease and Desist letter to SuicideMachine.org

January 11, 2010

SuicideMachine.org, a Dutch initiative, is the place to be if you want to stop your web 2.0 services like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace (who still has one anyway) and LinkedIn. In only one hour, it deletes all your information, photo’s, tweets, videos, “kill your fake virtual friends”, etcetera from the services you want to get rid of.

Facebook does not like the unfriend (Dutch ‘Word of the year 2009‘) hype going on at the moment. That’s why the lawyers of the mighty social network sent a letter (not even a real letter, just an e-mail) to SuicideMachine.org asking them ‘friendly’ to stop their euthanasia service within five days (which is today). Read the full Cease and Desist letter from the Facebook lawyers here.

We love the service, why should Facebook want to block the option to people to fully delete their profile? If you want to get in touch with your real friends again in real life, you should quickly visit SuicideMachine.org and commit suicide for your online alterego! Support the website by joining the facebook group ‘SuicideMachine.org is great’.
