[Inlog.org tips] Roadburn festival 2010: Tom Warrior / Triptykon (Part 2 of 8)

April 7, 2010

Ah, there it is again: the new Roadburn edition! From the 15th ’till the 18th of April Tilburg will be the stoner capital of the world. And yes: that is something to be proud of. In honour of this great festival, Inlog.org has a Roadburn special for you, outlining just a few of the many must-sees.

Tom Warrior (at Roadburn on April 16th), was until recently the bandleader of one of the most defining and respected bands when it comes to the extremer parts of metal: Celtic Frost. This band influenced not only countless black metal bands, also symphonic, gothic and death metal bands have been listening to Celtic Frost and took whichever they liked from its vastly wide-ranging output. Which is probably why he could curate his own Roadburn event: Only Death is Real.

Now he has a new artistic output: Triptykon. Which, to be honest, does not sound radically different from the last Celtic Frost release, Monotheist. This means slow and heavy songs with a lot of melody hidden in between crushing verses but may be a little bit cleaner sounding then CF’s Monotheist. So what’s not to like?

For his ‘Only Death is Real’ program on Friday, April 16th, Tom Warrior invited among others the following acts: Sarke (featuring Nocturno Culto), Jesu, Bohren & der club of Gore, Darkspace and Altar of Plagues.
