No, it’s not Thursday yet. So no Incu Thursday today! But nevertheless, we do like to bring out some new confirmations to you already: Dan Deacon & Jimmy Joe Roche, Black Mountain, Six Organs of Admittance and Jeroen Doorenweerd. All of them participate in the project Glocal.
Incubate will wander out in the countryside of Tilburg during the festival. The surroundings of the city will be a central focus point during the Glocal program. With this project, Incubate will connect its international appearance with the cultural heritage of the province of Brabant.
Incubate has its roots not only in the city of Tilburg, but also in the surroundings and the province of Brabant. For a few years now, the festival has been working with local and biological products and in 2009 the folkband Wardruna performed in a nature theater in Oisterwijk. With the Glocal-project, Incubate tightens the bonds with local producers, draws attention to sustainability and gives artists room and time to work. Besides that, the project gives visitors the chance to get acquainted with the surroundings of Tilburg and its local products.
The Glocal-program will consist of four different projects. While in residency at the Incubate festival, Dan Deacon and Jimmy Joe Roche will collaborate on a new piece of video art. Dan Deacon is one of the upcoming names in the electronic music, and Jimmy Joe Roche is a visual artist and filmmaker. Deacon and Roche have been collaborating together on and off since 2001. Material will be shot at biological farm ‘t Schop in Hilvarenbeek, a village near Tilburg and the surroundings of Tilburg. During the festival, the movie will be shown at the farm before a performance of Dan Deacon.
The nature theatre in Oisterwijk will be the scenery for the Canadian psychedelic rockband Black Mountain. On Friday September 17, Black Mountain will perform a unique show in Oisterwijk. The countryside, together with the amphitheater and the surrounding lakes will suit the psychedelic music of Black Mountain perfectly.
The free folk guitarist Six Organs of Admittance, who, amongst others, played with Devendra Banhart and Current 93, will record a concept album about the so called ‘Mary-chapels’, which are little chapels in the landscape of Brabant.
Dutch artist Jeroen Doorenweerd will present his new work “Ghost Performance”. Creating a virtual space with beamers, visitors can visit places and see performances they would never be able to see in real life.
The Incubate festival is from September 12 to September 19. Ticket presale started last Saturday via incubate.org/2010/tickets.
