Mark Dery on the Stoner Noir of Facebook

At ZXZW 2008 Mark Dery did a keynote on the legacy of Sun Ra. Now he wrote an excellent essay on Facebook.
Facebook returns us to the adolescent psychology of high school, a regression writ small in the site’s insistence on the cringe-inducing use of the noun “friend” as a verb when the perfectly serviceable “befriend” is readily at hand.
