Only two more months until Incubate 2010. For the past few months we’ve been announcing new artists every week. But with 200 + artists coming up in September we can imagine you losing your hold. That’s why we compiled the Incubate 2010 Spotify playlist (http://incu.at/spotify). Subscribing to this playlist will get you acquainted with most of the Incubate 2010 bands.
Apart from their music, part of the getting-to-know-them-better-proces will also be us asking some of the artists a few questions in the upcoming months. The thirty-ninth edition in a series:
1.Can you please introduce yourself?
We are Antillectual, a punkrock three piece from Nijmegen, North Carolina. We are around for almost 10 years now, released and toured all over the world and will be releasing our third full length album around the Incubate festival.
2.Where are you at the moment?
At the back of our van, driving through Milano, Italy. We are on a 3 week tour, crossing Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium and Holland. I’m wearing shorts and a band shirt since the weather is very nice over here.
3.Have you played in the Netherlands before and if so, what’s your view on or experience with the scene you’re operating in in The Netherlands?
We have played in Holland before and have had good experiences so far. I think the Dutch scene is very, very vibrant. There are a lot of good bands and sometimes even too many shows that compete with each other for an audience. But those are welfare problems I guess. It’s good to see there are a lot of young bands starting and keeping the scene alive. That’s the only way you continue to create new interesting music.
4.What can we expect of your gig at the Incubate Festival?
Endless speeches about the corruptible state of the national and international political system, mixed with short musical intermissions in the form of punkrock songs. A lot of energy, melody and socially engaged passion.
5.What are your plans for the (near) future?
We recorded a new album in March of this year and will be releasing it fall 2010. It’s titled “Start From Scratch!”. In the mean time we will be playing several club shows and summer festivals throughout Europe. After the release we will be touring our asses off again to promote the new album. Hope to see you then!
