[inQ&A] This Will Destroy You

July 12, 2010

Only two more months until Incubate 2010. For the past few months we’ve been announcing new artists every week. But with 200 + artists coming up in September we can imagine you losing your hold. That’s why we compiled the Incubate 2010 Spotify playlist (http://incu.at/spotify). Subscribing to this playlist will get you acquainted with most of the Incubate 2010 bands.

Apart from their music, part of the getting-to-know-them-better-proces will also be us asking some of the artists a few questions in the upcoming months. The fortieth edition in a series:

This Will Destroy You

1.Can you please introduce yourself?
I’m donovan, I play in this will destroy you.

2.Where are you at the moment?
We are in toronto, canada right now playing with slow six and light pollution. we’re on a month long tour of the US and Canada right now. We just finished playing a week or so with the life and times, but we just switched over to slow six and light pollution. tour is going really well.

3.Have you played in the Netherlands before and if so, what’s your view on or experience with the scene you’re operating in in The Netherlands?
We have played the netherlands before. Den bosch is the only place I can think off the top of my head. We love love love playing the Netherlands for its obvious tour attractions. Namely how you manage to harvest land by pushing the ocean back. Fascinating. We also really enjoy your weed and space plant. We played a huge city festival last year in the netherlands, I really wish I could remember where, but it was wild. We felt pretty out of place playing alongside more poppy bands, but we really had a lot of fun.

4.What can we expect of your gig at the Incubate Festival?
We’ll have our new drummer Alex Bhore in tow on this tour and we’ll be playing new songs from our upcoming album “tunnel blanket”. The new songs are somewhat different from past TWDY albums. Good different. Droney, dark, doomy doomgaze. We’re really proud of this material.

5.What are your plans for the (near) future?
We’re writing on a consistent basis now. check out our new releases coming up, “Moving on the Edges of Things” picture disc with an exclusve download. also, our “Communal Blood” seven inch is coming out shortly with two new tracks from our upcoming album. We’re doing a west coast tour with Autolux in july, then we tour europe in September. Really looking forward to it. After being there so much, then taking an eight month hiatus from going overseas, we feel homesick. at least I do haha. It’s another world over there.
