The Incubate gospel according to’ section gives you Incubate 2010 tips from insiders. Sixth one: Jasper van Vugt.
1.Who are you?
Many a philosopher has spent his (somehow all famous philosophers seem to have be men) entire life finding an answer to this question. But, if we take a -questionable- shortcut and use the equation ‘work=personality’: I am Jasper van Vugt, journalist (and in the case of OOR also editor) for publications like OOR, Algemeen Dagblad, CJP Magazine, NL20, Vice and Jazz Magazine. On a weekly basis I ramble about new Dutch talent on the airwaves of the wonderful Radio Mortale, where I invite promising new bands to play live. To make me feel more important and powerful I do the Simon Cowellthing for Grote Prijs van Nederland, Mooie Noten, Nu Of Nooit and Amsterdamse Popprijs. And since the age of Twitter I’ve seen people use ‘Twittering’ as an activity you can mention on your resume as well, so here you go: I Twitter (jvanvugt).
2.What will you be doing during Incubate 2010 (Sept. 12-19)?
The usual us journalists do at a festival: drink free booze backstage, hang out with the rockstars, shagging an intern or two, doing blow of groupies’ genitals, throw parties in my paid-for hotelroom and occasionally watch one of the hottest bands. When I get home and have to write my article I just use copy/paste from last years review and change the dates and bandnames. Like I said: the usual.
3.Which three artists do you recommend to see at Incubate 2010?
Zea of course, Dan Deacon, DJ/ Rupture, I Am Oak, Serena-Maneesh, Nikoo, Eklin, Kiki, Women, Space Siren, Traumahelikopter, Black Mountain, Daniel Haaksman, Die Weisse Rose and Josephine Foster. Oh
