The ‘Incubate gospel according to’ section gives you Incubate 2010 tips from insiders. Seventh one: Robert Meijerink.
1.Who are you?
Robert Meijerink. Promotes and books shows in Doornroosje, Merleyn, Festival de-Affaire in Nijmegen and is booker of EuroSonic-Noorderslag Festival in Groningen.
2.What will you be doing during Incubate 2010 (Sept. 12-19)?
Will visit Incubate probably on Monday 13 and Sunday 19 September and hopefully see as many shows as possible. My bands to watch for Monday are: Zola Jesus and the evening curated by The Ex. On Sunday: Laser Poodle, Traumahelikopter, Cold Pumas, Imaad Wasif, Six Organs of Admittance, Fair Ohs.
3.Which three artists do you recommend to see at Incubate 2010? (These do not have to be strictly music, of course)
Unfortunately I miss some interesting days but I would like to recommend to watch great artists like Neon Indian, Circle, Serena Maneesh, Plants & Animals, Damien Jurado, Black Mountain, Jakes, Dan Deacon, Zombie Zombie, and dutchies like Antillectual, Eklin, Shaking Godspeed and I am Oak.
3 tips:
1) Frank Fairfield is not a regular songwriter. His voice is amazing and he plays folk & hillbilly music on the banjo, fiddle and guitar. He dresses like it’s the early 1900’s and his style of banjo picking is pretty unusual these days. It was popular long time ago and there are not so many young musicians who can play like that anymore.
2) Daniel Haaksman: German DJ, producer and labelowner of MAN Recordings. With MAN Recordings Haaksman established collaborations between Europe and Brasil with acts like Feadz, Edu K and Crookers. Not only the man behind the scene but als in the spotlights: he plays a great mix of baile funk, electro, kuduro, dancehall, funk, house.
3) Warbringer up and coming thrash metal band from California. These youngsters are not trying to capture the ‘old’ thrash sound but the add their own elements. They we’re opening Fortarock the Festival in Nijmegen last year: one of my favorites.
