December Licht II

Saturday, December 18 20:00
Argument Vertoningsruimte
Korte Schijfstraat 17
Tilburg

Art is collected and stored for different reasons.
But could there be reasons to try to get rid of some art?
‘December Licht’ tries to initiate a debate on the collection of art
and especially the destruction of it in a stimulating and provocative way.
Two years ago the first edition of ‘December Licht’ came to light, which created a stir, but since has spread her heat quite rapidly. Join us now at  Part II of this heated debate!

Procedure

Artists are invited to sign up  with a maximun of three of their own works to be incinerated by flames.
All these works will be on display at the gathering at Argument.
The evening begins with an introduction on retention and destruction, where the interests will be explored.
Then the makers of the work are required to unfold their arguments and to explain their decisions.
All attendees, as well as opponents, are allowed to respond.
A jury will come to a informed resolution  after some careful weighing and considering.
To conclude the evening, the authorized works  will be burned at the stake outside.
All attending are allowed to benefit from the released light and heat.
The works that were rejected must linger for the moment and will be
taken back home by the artist/owner at the end of the night.
