Incubate 2011, the first 21 confirmations!

No more fooling around like our last newsletter, ’cause we’ve been very busy booking the first artists for the festival now. And we’ll keep doing so! On our blog you’ll find the new names for Incubate 2011, which we announce every Thursday at 14:00h sharp. And our temporary 2011 website (the full-feature one will launch in May) is live as well, with the new website and layout following mid-May. You can check out a full list of the artists performing at Incubate 2011. This includes biographies, (legal) free downloads and social media links.

Today at 14:00h we announced the very special project Meat & Greet with Ted Nugent; Kill It and Grill It BBQ! After the succesful experience we had with animals with our guest Hermann Nitsch on Incubate 2009, it’s time for the next big step. Read all info or apply via this e-mail address (starting tomorrow).

Here’s a list of the other artists we’ve announced for Incubate 2011 so far:

Megafaun, Joan of Arc, Library Tapes, Rivulets, Celeste, The Kids, Touchy Mob, SJ Esau, Kyst, Herrek, Air Waves, Wheels On Fire, My Disco, Flying Horsemen, A Grave With No Name, Fostercare, Indian, Mater Suspiria Vision, Will Samson and Yukon Blonde.

Many more to follow of course! If you’re attending Incubate 2011, you can count yourself in on Facebook and/or Last.fm to keep up to date with Incubate news and see who of your friends are going! And you can share your thoughts with the #incu11 Twitter hashtag!

Incubated 07 with John Maus, Sightings and Eklin

They say time flies when you’re having fun… So it’s time for the next Incubated edition already! On Thursday April 7th, lo-fi pop band John Maus will enter the stage alongside the noise rock act Sightings (Bright Eyes fans, take notice!) and the Dutch noise act Eklin with former members of Adept will return after they played at Incubate 2010 as well! You can find the full description of the artists down here:

John Maus
John Maus lives and works in Hawaii. Although first drawn to our attention as a core member of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and keyboard player with Animal Collective’s Panda Bear, Maus has proved himself to be an extraordinary musician with a distinctive sound in his own right. Maus croons over 80′s postpunk and synthpop and drowns it in a warm and dreamy lo-fi sound. This is what you would get if Ian Curtis would be the singer in Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti.

Sightings
Sightings is a New York City-based trio of musicians, operating on the boundaries of rock and avant-garde sounds. In the last years Sightings seem to have moved away from their uncompromising freeform noise to a slightly more structured noise rock / no wave sound. On 2010′s City Of Straw, released by Oneida’s Brah Records, the band sounds somewhere in between Liars, Dead C and Wolf Eyes.

Eklin
After the demise of Adept (not to be confused with the Swedish band), the core members Wouter Venema, Keimpe Koldijk and Michiel Klein decided to started a new project under the name of Eklin. With the new singer Leontien and Johan behind the drumkit, they are ready for something brand new. Stepping away from Adept’s noise sound, Eklin is focusing more on the minimalistic compositions which result in a stunning mix of ambient-pop music. Their music is drowned in post-rock and trip-hop influences, with Leontien’s beautiful, yet unusual vocals used at the right moments. They already amazed us with a performance at Incubate 2010, which gave us more than enough reason to invite them again at this Incubated edition!

Tickets are available for €8. You can make reservations via the Paradox website.

We’ve done some interesting posts on the blog about these artists lately. In case you have missed them:
- You can listen to the new Eklin single ‘Lapon / Terra’ here
- Listen to two brand new John Maus tracks here and here
- Eklin is announced for the sold out Motel Mozaique festival (and watch a live clip when you click the link)
