Incubate is looking for rural events in the countryside of Brabant for setting up a ‘Ghost Performance’. Tractor pulling competitions, village parties, fun fairs, farmers parties with pig-tag or ‘schijt je rijk’ competitions, or any other celebration that doesn’t have cityfolk as their main audience. The Ghost Performance was part of the Glocal project at Incubate 2010, and aims to reach people living in the countryside of Brabant.
So please let us know if you see a billboard with the announcement of a crazy pig-tag-party or “schijt je rijk” competition!
Ah… but what is a “Ghost Performance”?
It’s a work by the Tilburg-based artist Jeroen Doorenweerd and it’s made for Incubate. It’s a performance of the band HEALTH filmed with two cameras ‘back to back’: one camera faces the audience and the other one the musicians. These two video streams will be projected in sync on two opposing screens. The two screens create a new virtual space, in which the band opposed by its audience have their own party. The audio will be played back on a high quality PA system, at the same volume as the original. As a visitor, you can enter the strange space between band and audience. In fact you seem to be superfluous; the band is playing and the audience jumps and has fun, in another place and time. In this eerie setting you become the ghost yourself, but you can feel the energy of a great show and experience it in a completely new way, as an outside observer.
