Boban I Marko Markovic versus Fanfare Ciocarlia

The time had to come: a battle in the best traditions of brass bands such as those occur in New Orleans and Guca. Both of these bands were guests at the festival before, but they never shared a stage.

After the Markovic orchestra had survived the civil war in Yugoslavia and won one prize after another at the infamous Brass Festival in Guca Serbia, the bigger gigs started coming in.

As an accomplished army they went out to triumph but to their surprise they found out that another band had beat them to it: a set of ragged Romanians from rural areas had already captured the major strongholds and claimed the world title. They, in turn, were still facing questions from the public and press about their status against that of the Serbs. Sure they were the best but the whisper didn’t stop… Successful Gypsies want to show what their status is but when they’re not number one… they’d rather be in a shack with the Golden Trumpet then in the most beautiful castle without. There is only one solution:

In a contest of nearly two hours they’ll determine once and for all who is the heavyweight champion of the Balkan Brass!
