Every day, ’till June 20th we will highlight some of the work the artists have handed in for our Open Source expo. We’d love to receive some of your work as well!
Today’s artists are:
Teun Kuipers (pictured above) – Teun Kuipers’ (1979) visual research concentrates on an assembly of old, used and raw painted pieces of wood which are put together in a simple and clear way to abstract compositions of shape and color.“The motive for making these collages and assemblies is the fascination for color, shape, surface, line and material. It’s a well known theme in the visual arts, but I can’t deny it: interesting shapes. lines, material, it can be found all around us. I don’t need to make it myself, it’s already there.” Check out Teun’s website over here.

Bianca van Baast – “By means of clothing, make-up, hairstyles, and jewelry people try to distinguish themselves from one another. But is this the real person that we see? Or do all these things give a person the possibility to hide the real self? What induces a human being to hide himself behind a mask? And to what extent are we different from one another?”
Bianca tries to depict real people, completely stripped of accessories with only their essence remaining. This results in a rollercoaster of emotions. Her paintings portray tales full of contradictions. It tells about loneliness and togetherness, doubt and progression, violence and love, openness and hiding, struggle and consolation.
