We’re thrilled to announce the participation of XLR8R at Incubate 2011! XLR8R will bring a weekend full of cutting-edge music. The American publication has been on the forefront of electronic music for many years now and Incubate is glad to welcome them to curate an event in Europe for the very first time.
During the Incubate weekend, they’ll bring a program full of cutting edge music at Midi Theater. We’ll round up the program for you below, but of course you can check out full artist descriptions on our website also! There are tickets available just for the XLR8R program for only €10,00 per day. See the Tickets-page on Incubate.org for all info.
Friday night will kick off with two mysterious acts; the UK’s Holy Other will deliver a set of gothy R&B meets classic house, while occult duo Demdike Stare will please fans of dubby, dark ambient with tribal beats while performing an exclusive audio/visual live set. Later in the evening will be San Francisco’s Ghosts on Tape , part of the Numbers artist roster, who will be making his European debut. Alongside him will be Untold, who Mary Anne Hobbs tabbed as “One to Watch” back in 2009 and now stands as one of the leading UK bass producers while also running the acclaimed Hemlock imprint. One half of Instra:mental, Boddika, easily one of 2011′s top producers, will hit the decks with some pulsing, electro-tinged, and low-end heavy beats. Capping the evening is Loefah, one of the pioneers of the classic dubstep sound and owner of the DMZ (Digital Mystikz) and Swamp81 (Pinch, Skream) labels.
All the way from Detroit, we’re thrilled to have techno/house legend Theo Parrish on top of the bill for Saturday. Night Slugs’ Girl Unit (from last year’s UK bass hit “Wut”) is one of the hottest producers in the game right now, and alongside him will be some of the Rinse FM (London) crew, including Brackles, Oneman and Hessle Audio (James Blake, Pangea) label co-owner Ben UFO , all of whom will bring some some serious dubstep, house, UK funky, and garage business. Last but not least, TURRBOTAX® resident and Local Action Records artist Contakt will be making the trek from New York to hit the stage as well.
Sunday evening won’t go down gently this time! The latest artist to be featured in the long-running DJ Kicks compilations, Motor City Drum Ensemble will come in from Germany to share his Detroit-flavored take of house and techno. Young house producer Julio Bashmore might come from the UK, but his tracks also have a thick Detroit sound and plenty of soul. Also bringing the Detroit flavours, not to mention the newest UK bass dubplates, will be Jackmaster, who mixed one of the recent and most well received volumes in the Fabriclive series after longtime residency at London’s leading club Fabric. The final three acts for the Sunday will be confirmed soon.
All info’s also available on our website Incubate.org and for the XLR8R curated programme, check the XLR8R page on http://incubate.org/2011/event/9. XLR8R in Residence is supported by Midpoint Brabant.
