DJ/Rupture (Incubate 2010/2011) is looking for boomboxes for his new project The Soy Waltz. With this installation he attempts to link soy production in the third world, with the amount of soy eaten by pigs from our province Brabant, and makes the results audible by using samples from Brabant’s traditio of songs and instruments. The installation will be visible during Incubate 2011. Check out his call for boomboxes below:

Dear Internets–

Do you have an old boombox? The rectangular kind that is big, boxy, held together with real screws? With large dials and analog push-buttons? If YES, then I’m interested in it & will pay (non “vintage” prices) for it. If you’d like to donate your crappy old boombox to a very good cause (more on this later, I promise you will not be disappointed) well, that’s cool too.
