[Incu Thursday] Lunchconcert Peter Broderick, Afterschool Avant Garde, Slava Rubin (DIY Conference), Gold Kids and more added to the program

August 18, 2011

Hi there! This is Incu Thursday. Every Thursday, 14:00h local Tilburg time, we announce the artists that were confirmed for the Incubate 2011 festival during the past week. Whether it’s one or twenty names, as long as we have things to confirm…

We’re just a month away from the Incubate festival, but we have some more nice confirmations for the festival. First of all we’re proud to announce the Afterschool Avantgarde from Monday 12th until Friday 16th for kids between 4 and 12, taking place at Paradox from 13:00 to 15:30h! Peter Fengler & Hans Zimmerman, Kati Heck, Felix Kubin, Sylvain Chauveau and Han Bennink.

Last addition to the Hall of Fame hardcore program on September 17th along with Trial, Anchor, No Turning Back and more is Gold Kids, all the way from Italy. Fast and brutal, yet melodic hardcore!

We also have a new name for the DIY conference; Slava Rubin from IndieGoGo will be doing a presentation on DIY Funding!

Nick Helderman will be presenting his music photography during the whole week at Ticket Office Center office.

VJ FWIK will be delivering the visuals at KZ on Friday and Sunday and at Nieuwe Vorst on Saturday. Check out an awesome preview of his work here.

We’re proud to announce that Peter Broderick will not only perform on Sunday 18th at Pauluskerk, but will also be performing a special Lunchconcert at Boerderij ‘t Schop. Check out all the details and link to the tickets below! Ticket sales have started today and are very limited!

We have also uploaded an impression on Peter Broderick’s work at ‘Schop (check out the video above!). Peter Broderick worked ten days on ‘t Schop, an organic farm in Brabant, the Netherlands. There he helped giving birth to a cow, and used his stay to get inspired for new music.

Newly added to the music program:

Gold Kids – 17/9

hardcore

Italy’s finest hardcore band Gold Kids was once created as a voice for personal regrets and anger that needs to be released. By numerous tours (five mainland tours as well as some UK and Scandinavian tours), the guys in Gold Kids managed to escape the island of Cagliari and broaden their musical influences. We welcome them with open arms to the festival for some short and brutal, yet melodic hardcore!

Newly added to the conference:

Slava Rubin – 16/9

Slava Rubin co-founded IndieGoGo, the world’s largest crowdfunding platform, to empower creative entrepreneurs with Do-It-With-Others (DIWO) tools. IndieGoGo has hosted over 30,000 crowdfunding campaigns and has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur and many others.

Slava has spoken at numerous conferences, including TEDx, Sundance Film Festival, SXSW and Madrid Innovation Conference. At the Incubate DIY Conference, he will discuss DIY (or DIWO?) Funding.

Newly added projects to the program:

Afterschool Avantgarde – 12-16/9

Featuring: Peter Fengler & Hans Zimmerman, Kati Heck, Felix Kubin, Sylvain Chauveau and Han Bennink

Last year we saw that children really liked the experimental shows we do, as long as they can participate. Kids get free access to a special program of Independent Artists. There’s drumming lessons with and by Holland’s best and legendary jazz drummer Han Bennink, they paint with Kati Heck, create new sounds with Sylvain Chauveau, perform with Peter Fengler & Hans Zimmerman’s magic show and step into Felix Kubin’s personal universe. Creativity, fantasy, art and experiment are key, but the main inspiration point remains fun! this program aims at children between 4 and 12.

The Afterschool Avantgarde program consists of:
Monday 12th – Peter Fengler & Hans Zimmerman
Tuesday 13th – Kati Heck
Wednesday 14th – Felix Kubin
Thursday 15th – Sylvain Chauveau
Friday 16th – Han Bennink

Nick Helderman Expo – 12-18/9

The theme for Incubate 2011, ‘We are Incubate’, revolves around artistic practice and the role of the public in creative collaborations within independent culture. During this year’s festival, Nick Helderman will show a selection of his music photographs. His artistic approach and ideology fit the spirit of Incubate. His work is documentary; Helderman avoids the glitter of the rock cliché’s and prefers to focus on the beauty of the grim. His view on contemporary independent music is as exciting as it is indispensable.
