[Watch] Not to miss: a Glen Hansard #incu11 fanstory

September 13, 2011

Of course, we think you should see all acts performing at Incubate 2011. However, choices need to be made. This Friday, Glen Hansard will be performing in the Natuurtheater in Oisterwijk and we have asked Maartje (possibly his #1 Dutch fan) to help you make your choice easier. If you are convinced after reading this, make sure to get your tickets here.

Glen Hansard in Natuurtheater Oisterwijk: Fairy tales and friends

This Friday, Irish musician Glen Hansard (The Frames /The Swell Season ) will play solo in a nature theatre in the woods in Oisterwijk. Almost a fairy tale, such a location with a performance of this guy with his profound, beautiful music.

The Irish singer/songwriter makes magic sometimes. In Ireland he invites musical friends on stage like Damien Rice or Lisa Hannigan and they sing together… Or play together like they share the rehearsal room. For example in Iceland with Lay Low, Helgi Jonsson and some others:

Before 2011, Glen rarely played solo gigs and if he did decide to do this, most of the times this was in Ireland. Since he is going to release a solo album at the beginning of 2012 he does more solo shows. This summer Hansard toured with Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam) in the United States as a support act. Many Pearl Jam fans loved his music and live performance.

And now, he’s finally coming to The Netherlands as a solo artist. No distractions of the (beautiful) violin music by Colm Mac Con Iomare or attractive bass player Joe Doyle, both band members of The Frames/The Swell Season. But Glen Hansard will bring his Irish friend Oliver Cole to the beautiful nature theatre in Oisterwijk as a support act… and who knows what they’re up to together!
