Good morning. 4 down, 3 to go. If that sounds a bit sad, not at all! The next 3 days are PACKED. There is so much to do that we don’t even know how to put it all in one preview.
Open Source is still a major item on this year’s Incubate. So that means we still have an Open Source Expo in Faxx and Open Source Film in Filmfoyer, followed by the film Goodbye Mr. Christie. But today we have our first Open Source Dance! Don’t miss it! And while you’re at it, don’t miss I Almost Love You either!
For the early birds, DIY Conference starts off at 10:00 in Midi with Michael Azerrad‘s keynote speech. We’re really stoked about the program! Not only do we have Bill Drummond lecturing about (and performing with) The17, we’ve also got Steve Ignorant from legendary punkband Crass Q&A about DIY and Ignorant’s ethics. We’ve got the Dutch premier of PressPausePlay, a film about the digital culture. After this, there is a panel with the makers, Arnold de Boer (Zea, The Ex) and Daedelus. Internationally known street-artist MOMO will be interviewed by Koen Delaire. And there is so much more. So make sure you’re there at 10:00! Incubate will celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Gonzo (Circus), so please do drink a Vedett with us after the conference! Tickets are available on the day, at the door, with a Pay What You Want pricing!
And of course, music! LOTS OF MUSIC! Where to begin?
We turned Koen’s Workplace in a pit of noise and harsh noise. Ruisgenoot, True Deep and Kindvriendelijk amongst others will show you that HEALTH is actually noise for pussies.
Good news for the metalfans at Incubate: not only is Little Devil the place to be, but The Secret (photo below) will play the 00:00 slot. Mose Giganticus cancelled unfortunatly, but our Italian friends had a day off, so we got lucky. Also try to check out Dead Neanderthals, who have a special surprise for everyone attending their gig. Metalfans don’t dance, so we arranged Kongh, Dark Castle and Yob in the nightly hours especially for you in 013.
Everyone who does like to dance, knows where they’ll be. This entire weekend XLR8R curates Midi Main Hall (Loefah! Holy Other! Demdike Stare!), so we decided to bring the DJ Madd, Horst Aan De Massive and DMDN amongst others to the Bar Area. And if you do not like it there, you can also drop by 013 Stage01 for Generation Bass Global Mash-ups vol. 1. Ronald Diaz had to cancel, but Elgato will not be alone, because Fellow replaces Diaz.
At the breath-takingly beautiful Natuurtheater Glen Hansard will perform a very special show. We arranged a bus to get there, so make you sure you get your bustickets at the Ticket- & infocenter!
In Paradox Chris Corsano will collaborate with different artists. This Friday he will be accompanied by Dennis Tyfus and Christine Sehnaoui.
And if this all isn’t enough… then make sure you’ll visit 013 for Austra (photo on top), Daedelus (performing the songs he arranged with Fontys Students) and Mater Suspiria Vision. Or Cul De Sac for Let’s Wrestle and Picastro. Or ‘t Buitenbeentjes for Brother JT. Or NS16 for Plinth and Will Samson. Or V39 for Laatste Halte and The Cravats. Or drop by the beautiful Pauluskerk for This Frontier Needs Heroes and Rivulets.
There is so much to do, boredom is not an option.
