Incubate tips for the weekend by Bob van Heur (Belmont Bookings/ Le Guess Who?)

September 17, 2011

First of all I think Incubate is the best festival to get yourself out of your comfort-zone and surprise yourself with something you might hate or love, but always makes you think about it… And this years line-up is so ridiculously good that it’s hard to choose just a couple favorites but well…. here we go:

Extremely, extremely looking forward to Wooden Shjips together with visual artist Wineke Gartz. A 2 hour performance. The Shjips music is pretty “visual” already, but together with Wineke Gartz i expect it to be the most spaced-out experience… and listen to their new album “West”.

EMA – hyped by pitchfork and any other blog in the world. But yes… they are right! the album is an emotional ride trough the magical world of former Growns member Erika. One of the most special releases this year. And very curious to see this live.

Pinkunoizu – since the moment they released their album “free time volume one” i have been fascinated by this band. Akron/Family free-minded sounds, magical folksongs, and fragments of 60s, modern composed music and what else…

Battles at Natuurtheatre Oisterwijk – Battles is great and the location is amazing… do i need to say more?

Man, incubate…. stop… it’s too much… thank you guys for doing this!!
