[Listen] New tracks from Ancients and Cormorant

September 28, 2011

The band Ancients have been drifting under the surface for quite a while now, probably held back by the release of the second album of *shels, earlier this year. Now their first 2 tracks are released on their bandcamp and they sound very promising. It brings the expectations even higher, because with ex-members of Crydebris and Rinoa and with Mehdi Safa (*shels/ex-Mahumodo) we were already looking forward to what these guys had to bring to the table. It’s a sure shot for fans of above-mentioned bands: their heavy postrock builds up to an epicly beautiful ending.

For those who like it a bit more metal and a bit less postrock, Cormorant is more up your alley. Somewhere dwelling between black-, heavy- and progressive metal, it’s a tasty meal for almost every metalhead. Ridiculously enough, these guys aren’t signed to a label yet, and bring their debut album ‘Dwellings’ to the masses with pure DIY attitude. We like! But you’ve got only 4 days left to pre-order, so you need to hurry!

Listen to the track ‘The Purest Land’ on Pitchfork.
