Maruta split up

November 22, 2011

Maruta calls it quits! The Floridian grindcore band Maruta, who performed on this year’s Incubate Festival, gave an official statement last night to Lambgoat.

Frontman Mitchell Luna: ‘We have officially called it quits. We beat the horse to death, brought it back to life, dragged it around, and beat it to death again enough times already to call it a day. The road took its toll, and core member/guitar player Eduardo Borja decided to leave the band right after we got back from Europe last month. He left to focus on personal matters and his family, and we all wish him the best of luck. Myself being the only original member of the band since 2009, it was decided that carrying on with yet another line-up chance wouldn’t make any sense. We will be playing one last show in Miami December 4th, and then we put this beast to sleep for good.’

‘I would just like to take a quick moment to thank every single person that ever supported us in any way shape or form. I and the rest of the band have met some really incredible people throughout this 6 year mis-adventure, and have gotten the opportunity to visit plenty of places we would have otherwise not been able to see.’

Maruta’s final show is on Sunday, December 4th at the Churchills in Miami, Florida.
