The top 486 releases of 2011 according to You

December 6, 2011

86 top-10′s submitted, 486 unique releases submitted resulting in a top 448 releases of 2011; yeah, the call for year-lists seems to be quite a success. It’s not a big surprise the magnificent Let England Shake-album by PJ Harvey ended up on number one in the We Are Incubate year-list 2011, followed by The War On DrugsSlave Ambient (as heard live at Incubate 2011) and Smoke Ring For My Halo by Kurt Vile. The War On Drugs featured in 19 of the submitted lists, followed by PJ Harvey (18) and Kurt Vile (17).

The top-20 also includes Incubate(d) alumni John Maus (We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves), EMA (Past Life Martyred Saints), True Widow (As High as the Highest Heavens and from the Center to the Circumference of the Earth), James Blake (S/T), tUnE-yArDs (W H O K I L L) and Wooden Shjips (West).

A few stats:
- There were 486 unique releases submitted in 86 top-10′s. This means the average list includes 5,65 albums that are not in any other list
- 312 releases (64,2%) are in just one top-1o, 62 (13%) are in two lists
- The Whole Love by Wilco is the first album in the top list that’s not number one in any of the submitted top-10′s. Still, it’s number five in the top-list.

The top-50 can be found below, including links to the albums on Spotify. If you’d like to listen to  all almost all (yeah, some artists are still not on it) artists in the top-50, check out the special We Are Incubate album year-list 2011-playlist on Spotify.
