[Art] The Topographic Projections and Implied Geometries Series by Jim Sanborn

December 14, 2011

Jim Sanborn is a sculpture and a photographer from Washington, DC. He made these pictures named ‘The Topographic Projections and Implied Geometries Series’. The pieces were photographed at night using long exposures of light and on moonless nights, the landscapes were lit with searchlights. He uses a projector that is powered by a mobile generator and he moved it from site to site. Sanborn created the projections by standing 1/2 mile away from the subject landscape because the landforms are quite large. The result is impressive.
