[Spotifriday] Your weekend soundtrack – week 50

December 18, 2011

Here we are again with the albums you have to listen to this weekend. The new albums on Spotify. It’s a small list again, because there are almost no releases this week.

Can – Tago Mago (40th Anniversary Edition)

Alright, so normally we don’t put re-issues in this list. But we want to make an exception for Can. Because everone at Incubate LOVES Can. And still too many people have not heard this band. So please check out this classic album from 1961. Just once. Please. It will amaze you.
For fans of: Can!

&U&I – Light Bearer

Wow, this is really cool! Somewhere between math-rock and the newest slab of post-hardcore bands (like Touché Amoré and La Dispute), sits &U&I. It’s a golden combination, because it gives a heart to the math-rock, a genre often lacking songs to make way for technical highlights and weird rhythms. Check them out!
For fans of: And So I Watch You From Afar, Touché Amoré, The Fall Of Troy, Danananaykroyd

Loka – Passing Place

The latest release on Ninja Tune is ‘Passing Place’ by Loka. To say that the music of this band is wide, is a serious understatement. There’s jazz, prog, light funk, quasi-classical and even brass band in their musical arsenal. So how can we summarize this CD in one paragraph? We’re not even going to try.
For fans of: …eeeehhhhrrr… classical prog-jazz light? Maybe? I don’t know…
