[Spotifriday] Your weekend soundtrack – week 3

January 20, 2012

Here we are again with the albums you have to listen to this weekend. The new albums on Spotify. Unfortunately for the metalfans among you, there aren’t any decent metal releases on Spotify this week. But this week, 3 cool Dutch albums have been added! We like!

LUIK – Owls

Ofcourse, we’ve already booked LUIK on the last edition of Incubated (with Malcolm Middleton), but we keep saying it: this band is going to be very special. Keep an eye on these guys. It’s way too simple to just call this music ‘boring’. Just immerse yourself in this cd and hear it for yourself.
For fans of: The Antlers, Eklin, Woud, Codeine

Diagrams – Black Light

Can we just say that we love that artwork? Nice one. The music is cool as well. Above all, Diagrams is a pop-band. But on this record, they hit every corner of the genre. From discopop to indiepop. From beat-driven uptempo tracks to slow chilled-out tracks. A contiuously suprising popalbum. Who often do you come across one of those?
For fans of: The Chap, Friendly Fires, CANT, Metronomy

Moss – Ornaments

We’re not using this item to shove every possible Dutch indieband down your throat. It’s just that LUIK are very promising. And Moss, well, Moss are way beyond promising. Their last album was a pearl, and this album is a shining chrystal of an indie-album. Maybe that’s the reason for that frontcover. Moss deserve to be on the forefront of the international indie scene.
For fans of: Bon Iver, LUIK, Blaudzun, Other Lives

King Krule – King Krule EP

This EP has been out for a while yet, and a lot is written about it already. Now it finally made it’s way to Spotify. King Krule had his first succes in late-2010 as Zoo Kid. All of a sudden he changed his name last year to King Krule, changed his sound here and there and released this EP. Pitchfork gave it an 8.0 and the hype was created. Not everything Pitchfork says is bullshit. King Krule is some lovely weirded-out indie singer/songwriter.
For fans of: Pure X, Girls, Billy Bragg, The War On Drugs

Bart Constant – Tell Yourself Whatever You Have To

Another beautiful record from The Netherlands. Bart Constant is the new artistname from Rutger Hoedemaekers, who performed on Incubate 2005 as About. His new project is for everyone out there who likes their music folky, acoustic, indie or singer/songwriter. It’s lovely.
For fans of: About, Alamo Race Track, LUIK, Amatorski

Till next week!

[Listen] Wolvon’s new EP “Notice/Cymbals”

December 8, 2015

Groningen-based noise-rock trio and Incubate alumni Wolvon have just released a new cassette EP “Notice / Cymbals” featuring two new tracks. Wolvon’s sound is characterized by heavy guitars, distortion, crushing drums, and catchy, reverberated vocals, all enveloped remarkably in a dreampop soundscape. These bearded men from Groningen have a unique, winning sound of their own. […]
