Premier of ‘Patience (After Sebald)’ on IFFR, stream The Caretaker’s soundtrack

January 27, 2012

Today, January 27th, the documentary Patience (After Sebald) will premier on International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The movie is based around W.G. Sebald‘s book ‘The Rings Of Saturn‘, about his long hike throughout East Anglia. In the film, Sebald’s path is being documented but, just like in the novel, the images of the landscape and the places the author encountered, lead to reflections. It’s not just about the walk, it’s a journey along the horrors of the 20th century. Furthermore, 20 artists – writers, painters, theatre directors, etcetera – tell about the impact the work of Sebald had on their own lives. Here’s a trailer:

Why we care? Because The Caretaker made the breathtaking soundtrack for the film. We don’t just say that because he perfoms on the next edition of Incubated (BUY TICKETS! BUY BUY!), it’s true. Pitchfork rates it with an 8.0 and Sputnikmusic gives it a 4/5. Here‘s another raving review. (His last official full-length ‘An Empty Bliss Beyond This World’ got even more reviewers screaming from the rooftops.) and you can stream the entire album below!

If you buy your tickets for the next edition of Incubated with Library Tapes, Sleepingdog and The Caretaker on February 2nd in Paradox, you can win one of these custom-made fanboys. Tickets are €9 excl. and are for sale right now.
