Can: The Lost Tapes

March 30, 2012

Yesterday Mute announced they are to release Can: The Lost Tapes on June 18th, a 3CD box set containing unreleased Can material.

Unlike some other deluxe box sets, this one actually contains new unheard material. The music was discovered by accident after the German Rock N Pop museum bought Can’s Weilerwist studio. A set of master tapes were found during the relocation of the studio to Gronau. The found tapes turned out to be either outtakes from albums or soundtrack material,  from the period 1968-77.

You can listen to the first track, ‘Millionenspiel’, below.

Whilst we are talking about Can, Damo Suzuki (member 1970 to 1973) settles in Tilburg to play 3 shows in 3 days in 3 unique formations during Incubate with the Damo Suzuki Network.
