Tomorrow: Record Store Day

April 20, 2012

5 Years ago Record Store Day was found by six guys in the USA. Nowadays it’s turned out as a celebration day for independent music stores from all of the world. Here are the things that we like to most that’s gonna happen tomorrow.

Of course is our focus on Incu12-artists; for instance Berlin musician Nils Frahm. Tomorrow he’s releasing an EP together with friend and colleague Ólafur Arnalds. Both are releasing their records on Erased Tapes and their music can be both put in the neo-classical style, so it wasn’t a total shock to hear that they are working together. Result is a three song counting EP with the name Stare, and.. it’s a stunning masterpiece, especially closing track b1. Check here by the way for a niece piece of improvision from the boys.

A combination that we didn’t expect was between Feist and Mastodon. This occasional collaboration is releasing under the awesome name Feistodon two tracks; Feist made an experimental version of Black Tongue and Mastodon made their own version of A Commotion from Metals, the latest album from Feist.

Another thing that we really looking forward to hear is the album of our friend Malcolm Middleton. His new project, Human Don’t Be Angry, is playing on our festival in September, so it’s good to hear this album got his release tomorrow, on Record Store Day. And psst.. if you wanna hear the album before you are going to buy it tomorrow,  make sure you don’t miss this week’s Spotifriday which is going to be online in a few hours.

For Incu12 who are going to do a collaboration with our favorite record label from Brooklyn: Sacred Bones. Bands as Iceage, Amen DunesWar, Lower, Lust For Youth and The Men will play at out festival this September. A few of those bands have made a special track for a new compilation cd that Sacred Bones is releasing tomorrow; War, Amen Dunes and The Men.

Besides cool releases a lot of bands will do an instore gig at the record stores. So tomorrow will play the beatgroup The Kik and Mathijs Leeuwis at our friends from SoundsLuik, another Incu12 artist, is doing two special instore gigs; at Velvet music store in Amersfoort and Blue Music in Kampen.

PVT-2012-small

Fans of experimental rock pay attention because tomorrow PVT will play in 013, Tilburg.
