This year Incubate presents not only a lot of great music, films, visual art and debate, but we’ve asked Zeebelt to put together a theaterprogram that can match the rest of the program. And so they did. We will be announcing one theater addition of Zeebelt in Residence for seven days on a row. We hope you like it as much as we do, as we are very proud to present this to you for the first time.

Theater ensemble Zoogdier is known for its intriguing, visual approach to music theatre. Achterna gedragen is their sophomore piece after the critically acclaimed debut Aantekeningen van een Zoogdier (2009).  Their new piece Achterna Gedragen is an ode to Dick Raaijmakers and a collaboration with Dutch recognized writer Toon Tellegen.

One day, a strange message is whispered into a successful young woman’s ear that the idyllic view from her window is not actually real. With the aid of specially built machinery, her perfect view disappears, and the ground under her feet shifts revealing a giant abyss. After deciding to jump, she begins to chase her own fall, driven by the power of her imagination,

The fall in her living room then opens up into a long tumble through space. Surrounded by mysterious messages from the ether, she is pulled into enigmatic weather forecasts, dream-like morse-equipment, radios, fragile pulsating music and a haze of noises. Just before she reaches bottom, having passed resistance, sadness and boredom, she manages to tilt her vertical drop into a horizontal journey towards the unknown.”

Tg Zoogdier staat garant voor een intrigerende, beeldende vorm van muziektheater. De eerdere voorstelling Aantekeningen van een Zoogdier (2009) werd door De Volkskrant bekroond met vier sterren.  Het nieuwe muziektheaterstuk Achterna Gedragen is een hommage aan de valpartituren van Dick Raaijmakers.

Speciaal voor Achterna Gedragen schreef Toon Tellegen een serie zogenaamde mentale, ‘Tellegiaanse’ weerberichten. Het muziektheaterstuk gaat over vallen /reizen. Op een dag krijgt een vrouw ingefluisterd dat het uitzicht uit haar raam niet klopt. De grond begint onder haar voeten te schuiven. In een flits ziet ze hoe ze valt. Ze besluit te springen, reist haar val achterna, gedragen door de kracht van haar verbeelding. Uit het spoor dat muziek trekt door het veld van beeldende en muzikale handelingen, ontstaat een wonderlijke belevenis die het midden houdt tussen detective, reisverslag en droom.
