[Theater @ #incu12] Sarah van Lamsweerde: Instant Fiction

July 12, 2012

This year Incubate presents not only a lot of great music, films, visual art and debate, but we’ve asked Zeebelt to put together a theaterprogram that can match the rest of the program. And so they did. We will be announcing one theater addition of Zeebelt in Residence for seven days on a row. We hope you like it as much as we do, as we are very proud to present this to you for the first time.

Instant Fiction14/15/16 Sept, De NWE Vorst

concept: Sarah van Lamsweerde
production: Zeebelt/ Tre Tigri / Het Veem Theater

Instant Fiction is a live video installation set in a place where people meet to talk, drink, sit together, laugh, stare out the window or read the newspaper. A closed circuit television system records and displays all that happens in the space, much like a classic surveillance situation. The only difference is that now, the real-time images are subtitled. Texts from an unknown film appear on the screen, turning a perfectly normal situation into a set with accidental actors.

Instant Fiction was commissioned by the ANTI-Festival in Kuopio, Finland. A first test of this work was developed at Zeebelt in Den Haag. Further site-specific versions were created for ZAAL5 / Filmhuis Den Haag and De Brakke Grond / Something Raw Festival in Amsterdam.

Sarah van Lamsweerde creates performance pieces and installations. As well as producing her own work, she has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, such as Leine & Roebana, Zhana Ivanova, Ivana Müller and Christiaan Bastiaans. She completed her post-graduate studies in artistic research and performance at Dasarts in 2008. Her work has been shown at festivals and manifestations in the Netherlands and internationally. Together with Bojana Mladenovic and Norberto Llopis Segarra, she founded Stichting Tre Tigri to enable individual as well as collective projects in cross-over art disciplines.

[Heavy Sunday] Heart In Hand

Heart In Hand is a band I’ve been following since their birth. Over the years they’ve grown as a band and eventually found their [...]
