[InQ&A] 7 questions for Aidan Moffat

July 13, 2012

Less than two months until Incubate 2012. For the past few months we’ve been announcing new artists every week. But with 200 + artists coming up in September we can imagine you losing your hold. That’s why we compiled the Incubate 2012 Spotify playlistSubscribing to this playlist will get you acquainted with most of the bands.

Apart from their music, part of the getting-to-know-them-better-proces will also be us asking some of the artists a few questions in the upcoming months. Here are the first 7 questions to Aidan Moffat:

Q: Since this Incubate edition is partly about celebrating music pioneers, which band inspired you the most?
A: I really don’t think one particular band inspired me, there were a lot of things I listened to growing up that made me want to write songs. I still love Talking Heads and Tom Waits, they were probably the first two artists / bands that I really loved as a teenager, but there was so much that I honestly couldn’t specify or narrow it down.

Q: Which album is stuck on repeat at the moment?
A: I’m listening to a lot of Dusty Springfield records right now, she had the sexiest voice in history.
Q: Which song that you recorded do you regret the most?
A: I don’t regret anything.
Q: Best tour food?
A: In the UK, we now have Marks & Spencer’s – a fairly upmarket and healthy food store – in service stations, so we always try and stop there to get something relatively healthy, like sushi and fruit. I eat healthier food on tour than I do at home these days!
Q: What is it that a band should definitely not do on stage while performing?
A: Vomit. I once spent and entire gig with a bucket at the side of the stage just in case I was sick, after a particularly enthusiastic all-night tourbus party.
Q: What do you think to expect from Incubate festival?
A: I’m not sure yet, but i do know that i’ve got a quite a few friends playing so I can expect to have a good time!
