[Incubate Daily Preview] Thursday

September 13, 2012

Well, we hope you had a barrel of fun yesterday. We sure did! It’s thursday allready and that means we’re right in the middle of this happening. There’s no turning back: you are Incubate now! So drop us a line on Facebook or Twitter (#incu12) when you’ve visited something you like or when you’ve experienced something remarkable and enlighten us!

And if you want to be up-to-date on the latest changes, view the time shedule on the fly and browse through the line-up where ever you are and more; then be sure to download our Incubate 2012 app! Yes, it’s true. We now have a wonderful piece of software designed to give you as much information as possible on the go. Just go to your Play store for Android or the Appstore for Iphone. Enjoy!

Now, cut through the dross and, like a ‘wise man’ once said, let’s do this! The must sees for today are:

Music
Highight: Sleepy Sun (22:30-23:30, Kleine Zaal @ 013). Let’s dance to those San Francisco-based rockers. Let’s celebrate that their psychedelic grooverock survived!

Tip: A Winged Victory for The Sullen, Nils Frahm (20:00-22:30, Paradox). This’ll be an unique experience for everyone: one night of minimalistic, neo-classical, ambient, piano music by two great groups.

Film
Hightlight: Short Films – Experimental (21:00-22:00, Filmfoyer).
Deep Red: An investigation into additive colour mixing on film. Handmade by silkscreen printing.
Crosscuts: A fast paced animated film that takes you on a visual journey through an urban landscape.
Dolls vs Dictators: Puppets use their powers to rid the world of the last remaining dictators.
Tampopo Head and the Name of the Dogs: A personal interest on the lives of the former neighbours.
20 Hz: Visualization of the course of an electromagnetic storm in the earth’s outer atmospheric layer.
My….My….: One day. I found my naked. Where is my chothes?

Tip: KID-THING (22:30-00:00, Garden @ De NWE Vorst). A fever-dream fable about Annie, a rebellious girl whose existence is devoid of parental guidance. She spends her time roaming the land, shoplifting, vandalizing and making prank phone calls. Her routine is broken one day while playing in the woods; she hears an old woman calling from a mysterious hole in the ground, asking for help. Scared and untrusting of the unseen stranger, Annie deliberates on her course of action. (2011, US 83 min)

Art
Highlight: Santiago Sierra (10:00-21:00, De Beukentuin). Because of his controversial but elicit work, Santiago Sierra is one of the most discussed artists in recent years. Sierra will perform the latest installment of his The Destroyed Word saga at Incubate 2012. One of ten exclusive performances in which one letter of the word capitalism is destroyed each time by those affected by this global system. Installments of The Destroyed Word have been presented in Berlin, Paris, New Delhi, Papua New-Guinea and Brazil. Now Tilburg is added to that list.

See you @ Incubate!

May 17, 2013

ruiz-trappen-23-03--22-b

Trap is all the rage these days, sparking internet memes and making tiny white kids seem cooler by proxy.
