[IncuPlay] : Music we at Incubate just discovered, loved since we were a child or just can’t get out of our heads even after repeatedly banging it against the wall. In this new blog series we’ll be serving you these little treats with a side of background information on the artists themselves. This first post is all about Canadian Nü Sensae.
Who is Nü Sensae?
Andrea Lukić, Daniel Pitout, and Brody McKnight
What about ‘m?
This band seems to really tickle people’s fancy and are being watched by an increasing number of music fans. The band formed in Vancouver back in 2008 as a two piece and released a one-sided ‘Self-titled’ 12″ in 2009. Since then they’ve released quite some material including a 7″ called ‘Three Dreams’, a debut album called TV, Death en the Devil and (split)singles Tea Swamp Park, Okie dokie and Clown Life together with White Lung. After signing with Suicide Sqeeuze label the two-piece band became a three-piece when Brody McKnight joined in on the fun. Since then their second album Sundowning is released and the band is busy touring America
What does it sounds like?
They make what you can call post-grunge or raw garagerock. The raw style and agression quickly takes you back to.. oh let’s say anywhere before the 5th of April 1994 and reminds of other bands like Dinosaur Jr as their music is covered in thick punk/grunge/garage frosting and topped of with Andrea Lukic‘s roaring vocal efforts to scream her heart out. Especially after you’ve seen the video they did for Swim:
But that’s not the whole story. Nü Sensae’s music is more than a comparison. Although you can’t really put your finger on it. It’s not new, they just do it really good. It’s really enticing and it turns on your rebellious I-don’t-give-a-fuck mentality whilst sucking you in.
So..
Get yourself acquainted with this energetic three-piece. We can only show you the light, now you have to discover it further for yourselves. We’ll even help you get started. Check out the links below and have fun!
