Prove your luck, take a shot and you may win free tickets for an awesome show in Utrecht. On Sunday the 21th of October Moon Duo and Man Forever perform at 4th edition of EKKO’s Sunday Noise and we have the honor to present you 2×2 tickets for this show.
Moon Duo consists of, yes, the duo Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada. Armed with a bunch of effectpedals, Ripley deforms about every sound from his electric guitar. Rhythms are determined by the machine drum and girlfriend Sanae keeps the whole, in terms of melodies, to each other with her keyboard. The use of fuzzy loops and frivolous solos makes the music very danceable, but still dark and psychedelic. A worthy headliner for Sunday Noise, if you ask us.
Man forever is John Colpitts, best known as the drummer for Oneida. Colpitts is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, and during this 2012 fall tour he’ll be performing his piece “Surface Patterns” together with local musicians all over Europe. This is loud, repetitive, slowly phase-shifting drone music at its best.
Question: Moon Duo guitarist Ripley Johnson also plays in another great space rock band. What’s the name of this group? Hint: they performed once at Incubate.
