God Is An Astronaut make a strong claim to being the best Irish indie export of the 2000s, thanks to their mix of epic melodies of post-rock, the precision of electronic-fuelled Krautrock à la Tangerine Dream and elements of space rock. They will tour Europe in fall and they will perform in W2, ‘s-Hertogenbosch on Friday September 4. You can go there carelessly for free, because we have two times two tickets to give away! See below how you can win a pair.
This year, God Is An Astronaut, the four-piece band who hail from Glen of the Downs, Ireland, will release their eight album, called Helios | Erebus. This is their heaviest release so far, in which you can hear the full live-intensity and atmospheric dark ambient the band is known for. ‘Light vs. Dark’ is the central theme of the conceptalbum Helios | Erebus. Because of that, the album will be released on June 21, the longest day of the year.
Classic Rock: “…it moves you to infinity and beyond.”
Rocksound: “it’s difficult to deny the qualities GIAA bring to the post-rock table.”
The Silent Ballet: “this is still the rare honest face of post-rock.”
Drowned in Sound: “God is an Astronaut can be thrilling, tranquil, or sorrowful. God is an Astronaut is the most human post-rock has ever been.”
Drowned in Sound: “startlingly fantastic pieces of music.”
Drowned in Sound: “Raw emotive power”
Support act for this evening is instrumental post-rock duo Nordic Giants from England. For these two musicians, the performance is the thing, and as those who have seen the live show will attest, it is a visceralexperience that goes beyond the normal descriptors. Each mind-blowing performance involves a chosen few short films, which are soundtracked live with atmospheric soundscapes.
We can give 2 x 2 tickets away for the concert of God Is An Astronaut and Nordic Giants, taking place on September 4th at W2, ‘s-Hertogenbosch. We would love to know why you have to win these tickets. To win them, e-mail your answer to the question to email@example.com before the 1st of September and don’t forget to state your full name! For more info about the event, go to the W2 event page. Check the Facebook event here.
