Frank Kimenai, one of the founding fathers of Incubate and our colleague who made sure our financial and productional worries were taken care of, will leave Incubate on June 1st.

We’ve had wonderful times with Frank (as you can see on these pictures), and wish him all the best.

In his own words:

I would like to inform you that as of june 1st 2012, I will be parting ways with Incubate. After a long period of thinking and balancing out my thoughts and ideas, I have made my decision. It wasn’t an easy one, especially since it concerns one of the things that I hold dearest. It feels like letting go of a child that I have nourished for seven years, that has cost me blood, sweat and tears, but above all gained me a lot of positive energy and ideas. However, I felt the time was here to make this decision, because I strongly felt the need to explore new paths, to face new challenges. This notion of looking for new experiences grew stronger and stronger throughout the last few months, and therefor I have decided to go for it. It is with pain in my heart that I am leaving Incubate. I am sincerely proud of what we have achieved over the last seven years, and I look back with a great sense of satisfaction and gratitude. It is a comforting thought that I will be leaving Incubate in the capable hands of the best team possible for this job. Incubate is built on a solid base, upon which the festival can grow to the next level in the next few years. I’m proud to be able to say that I have helped create that base, and that I have been part of shaping all these wonderful ideas.

I would like to thank you for everything you meant for me and Incubate, both professionally and personally, the last few years, and I hope to see you in september on that festival in Tilburg!

We found a new art form that uses the peel from a tangerine to create something wonderful. Probably you need a lot of patience to make things like these. So good luck trying people!

Art made from Euro’s should raise their value right?

Sculptor Gabriel Rufete works with a number of different materials to create delicate, fractured, and often incomplete interpretations of the human form.

Like every week this Thursday is a Incu Thursday, the day that we announce new names for our festival. To give you already a preview we’re gonna give you a hit. The picture above, this coloured mustachioed man, is the hint. We’re pretty curious if somebody will guess the new name!

The titel means frosted chocolate mouse and is made by Donato Sansone aka Milkyeyes.

Today 3 videos hit the surface of Buzzcocks performance at Coachella. Watch, and judge for yourself if they still got it. Buzzcocks are set to perform at the last day of Incubate 2012 festival.

He’s all that and Moore

This is the story of a nine year old boy named Caine who built an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his father’s used auto part store. A dollar gets you four plays, and two dollars gets you a five-hundred turn FUN PASS. Business was slow until independent filmmaker Nirvan Mullick spotted the arcade and plotted to change Caine’s life forever. Watch the short film and if you feel as weepy and joyous as I did, head over to his newly established scholarship fund. And can I just say, what an amazing dad to support, encourage, and allow his son to pretty much overtake his storefront for the sake of fun and creativity. (via mefi)

Last friday we posted about the guitar drone project from Dirk Serries called Fear Falls Burning with his new release Disorder Of Root.  Today we’ve got some good news; we are gonna give away three copies of this release. In January 2012, photographers Alex Troesch and Aline Paley traveled to Matehuala, Mexico and captured some wonderful images of the Los Socios and Los Parrandero crews wearing some very long and pointy boots. TIME LightBox recently published the set of images and they report that in “ the pointy boots trend is more about flash than fashion.”

And if you wonder to what kind of music these guys dance to, Generation Bass about Javier Estrada: “if you have ever seen the clips of young kids in Mexico that wear shoes with tips that almost reach their face dancing to this, you know it is the real deal”.
