Celebrating both the label´s 50th release, as well as a 5 year anniversary Man Recordings has gathered big ups and congratulations from Man Recordings friends and fans such as Crookers, Diplo, Switch, Jesse Rose, Count+Sinden, Feadz, Incubate 2009 artists Schlachthofbronx and many others. Man Recordings head honcho Daniel Haaksman will be part of the Pirate Conference the 17th of September and will spin some records the 18th as part of Generation Bass. Get your tickets!

Never played in the Netherlands…but really looking forward to it!! We were guests last year at the Incubate Festival and we had a great time!! We met interesting people and had a lot of fun…

4.What can we expect of your gig at the Incubate Festival?

Coco Bryce

1.Can you please introduce yourself?
Dj / producer, mainly doing Skweee & Hip Hop and some 8bit & Dubstep stuff complemented by the occasional Rave tune. Residing in the south of the Netherlands. Also run a small record label called Myor on which I release vinyl & digital.
Check the discography here if yer interested. Plus I do a half-assed, crap looking blog which covers oodles of lo-fi electronic music and a bit of skating. Should be about enough self promotion

2.Where are you at the moment?
At home, typing this.

3.Have you played in the Netherlands before and if so, what’s your view on or experience with the scene you’re operating in in The Netherlands?
Yes! I live here, so… Pretty good vibe most of the times.. Dubstep is doing well, but the Skweee and Beats stuff could do with some more club nights and a bigger audience I suppose.. Though I seriously doubt that to happen over here.. But who knows..

4.What can we expect of your gig at the Incubate Festival?
A lot of crooky beats, Skweee, my own tunes and stuff made by friends of mine.

5.What are your plans for the (near) future?
Gigs, tunes & mixtapes. There’s quite some stuff in the pipelines for Myor as well. Doing at least 2 more volumes in the Tropical Heat series (12″ compilation ep’s), a digi-ep by Grimace (outer space Neon Boogie & Skweee producer from the U.S.A.) and a 7″ ep by Light Club. Got a release coming up on the Generation Bass label together with Slow Hand Motëm and I’m working on my first album, which is due in Autumn on Fremdtunes. Will be playing on the Impakt festival in October in Utrecht.

Hi there! This is Incu Thursday. Every Thursday, 2pm local time, we announce the musicians that were confirmed for the Incubate 2010 festival during the past week. Whether it’s one or twenty name, as long as we have things to confirm..

Today we complete the schedule for the Generation Bass event at Incubate. With the addition of the last three names, a total of 24 artists will perform at the four venues in the nights of September 17 and 18.

Generation Bass @ Mundial this weekend

Generation Bass will represent at the Mundial festival in Tilburg this weekend! On Saturday Generation Bass presents Mago Bo on the Plein 2015 stage. Maga Bo is a producer/DJ based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His work spans the breadth of international urban bass music from hip hop and kwaito to baile funk and jungle ragga to dub, grime and dubstep with flares of samba, rai, bhangra, cumbia, skewed electronic beats and loudspeaker jitter.

But that’s not all! Generation Bass will also host the Mundial afterparty in the Paradox on Saturday. Not only will the Generation Bass DJ’s themselves (Sonido del Principe and DJ UMB) spin the decks, they’ve also invited the Bomb Diggy Crew and the Rebel Up! Soundsystem. Expect the best dance music from all over whole world in a mix of Cumbia, Kuduro, Dancehall and Tropical Bass and prepare for tropically hot atmospheres!

Incubate in Hungary report part 2

This Saturday Incubate will curate a stage at the Europe Mania Festival. The festival takes place in Pécs, Hungary from the 6th until the 8th of may. On may 8th Incubate will host the Brewery stage.

Multi-instrumentalist and Incubate’s very own artistic leader Vincent Koreman a.k.a. Vince the Prince will spin the decks under the moniker of Sonido del Principe this Saturday on Europe Mania. In doing so, he will be accompanied by DJ Umb. Vincent has been active for years in loads of different music and art projects and has gained fame as Ra-X, The House of Destructo and This is Total War among others. Also, Vincent and DJ Umb are the driving force behind the Generation Bass blog, thé blog on non-western dance music.

A couple of years ago Vincent discovered the world of cumbia, a South American musical genre for the working class, with beautiful songs on everyday life in the favelas of Buenos Aires and Colombia. From this point on he started experimenting with the genre, mixing it with old school house and bass oriented music. Within three days he had created his own nu cumbia tracks and it only took another five days for the first labels to approach him to release them. Check out some of his stuff for free right here.

On Europe Mania Sonido del Principe and DJ Umb will bring you a tropical mix of funk, bassline, house, experimental dub, dancehall and afro beat mixed up with non-western dance music. Nu Cumbiaaa!

Incubate weekend starts today!

And yes, it’s Friday already. And the party is still going strong. After a fabtastic week program today the weekend program will kick in. This means: more music, more art, more people and more ‘gezelligheid’! And almost like Bonaparte sung on Tuesday much too much too much too much great things to do.

Andrew Keen will start his keynote speech at 14:00, and after that there will be a panel discussion with pirate party members, and other interesting guests.
